Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We’ve got answers. Here are some of the most common things people ask us when getting started with automation.

Are robots going to replace jobs?

In our experience, we haven’t seen robots replacing humans. Instead, robots are taking on the dangerous, repetitive, and undesirable tasks that most people don’t want to do. This allows our clients to retrain their loyal employees for roles that are not only essential but also more engaging and fulfilling. In fact, some of our clients have grown their workforce. With increased efficiency from automation, they’ve been able to expand production—adding more shifts and even entire production lines, which created more job opportunities.

"Robots aren’t replacing jobs. They’re transforming them. This robot is revolutionizing how we lay tiles, faster and more accurately than any human worker ever could. 50,000 square meters. Nonstop. What does that mean for the future?
Today: Expensive, not mainstream
Tomorrow: Cost drops, adoption increases
Next year: Ubiquitous across industries
Here’s the hard data:
📍 6x faster than human workers
📍30-40% cheaper labor
📍 No fatigue, zero errors
📍 15% less material waste
People ask: 'What about the human touch?'
Wrong question.
The question is: What happens to the humans?
2.7 million construction jobs at risk by 20,406 human jobs lost for every robot 70% of construction tasks are ripe for automation. But don’t panic. Less injury risk. Maintenance roles are on the rise. Re-skilling is key. This isn’t about halting progress. It’s about preparing for the future. Some companies are already taking action: AT&T, SAP, Walmart investing in up-skilling.
Now, we need collective action: Public and private sector collaboration. Government support for re-skilling. The future isn’t man vs. machine, it’s man with machine."  - Roy fang

"𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭 – 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐧𝐞! Who really wants to do the same task over and over again… forever?
😵
Nobody dreams of being a cog in the system. And that’s where robots come in—not to take jobs away, but to take the boring out of work. In today’s race for speed, quality, and scale, manual labor alone simply can’t keep up. That’s why forward-thinking companies are choosing automation to:
Reduce human error – responsible for 20–30% of industrial flaws
Cut down injuries – 60% drop in repetitive strain cases
Deliver consistency – 95%+ repeatability on the floor
Open up new jobs – in AI, robotics, data, and tech innovation.
But the secret isn’t choosing humans or robots—It’s humans working with robots.
🤝🤖Brains and bots together? Now that’s a workforce worth building."  - Ulrich M (Robotics with ULMO)

"Let me say it again...tech is NOT meant to steal your job! That's right, pushing for a new digital solution should never be about replacing people. It should be about empowering them. Technology in construction isn’t here to fire your team — it’s here to fire up your efficiency. We’re talking fewer errors. Faster workflows. Automated steps that used to eat up hours. Nobody gets the boot. You just get more done. That’s the magic. That’s the mission. Let’s stop fearing AI and robots and start using the tools."  - AJ Waters

What do we have that is patented / pending?

Meet SPARKY (patent #11911993) – our most popular system that is an alternative to traditional cartoners.

Compact, fast, and flexible, SPARKY fits into tight spaces, changes sizes in under two minutes, and can be tailored to your exact needs.Built around a SCARA (4-axis) robot, which has never been used for cartoning, but allows for a smaller robot price tag and high lateral versatility with a small footprint.

We use reliable, user-friendly FANUC robots to ensure smooth operation. Mounted on a mobile cabinet, it’s easy to relocate with just power and air connections. The entire unit is about the size of a home fridge—and two can be stacked to save even more space. SPARKY excels at folding cartons up to 4"x4"x4", with custom sizing available. For our standard 1.86”x1.86”x4.5” carton, we’ve achieved cycle times as fast as 2.5 seconds—up to 11,000 units per 8-hour shift. Changeovers are where SPARKY truly shines: thanks to RFID readers, HMIs, and quick-change tools, switching carton sizes takes less than 2 minutes—no downtime, just go. We offer full customization, including direct printing, product insertion, top sealing, and casing.

Meet SKIPPY -  our Patent Pending Mobile Palletizer.

Palletizing often delivers one of the highest returns on investment and is typically one of the first areas manufacturers focus on when implementing automation. Like many integrators, we offer both small palletizers and large, high-speed palletizing systems. But what sets us apart is Skippy — our patent-pending mobile palletizing unit. Skippy is built to move easily from line to line, making it the perfect solution for manufacturers who can’t justify a dedicated robot on every line but still want the performance benefits of speed, efficiency, and reduced manual labor.

We also have a 4 axis robot  Patent Pending Case Erector. Like Sparky, using a 4 axis robot allows for a smaller robot price tag and the ability to keep a smaller footprint.  Check out this R & D video of this patent pending system.

What is a site visit?

To truly understand each company’s unique needs, we begin with a site visit. This allows us to observe your processes firsthand, identify pain points, and discuss where automation can provide the greatest return on investment. IME will come to your facility to collaborate with your team and develop a customized Automation Plan. We offer flexible phases of implementation, so full automation can happen over time—aligning with your budget and priorities. Our goal is to provide options that let each company focus on the areas where automation is needed most.

What is a Proof of Concept option?

As a custom integrator, we work on a wide variety of unique and exciting projects. Every company we partner with has different needs, and we pride ourselves on developing creative, tailor-made solutions that push beyond the standard.

That said, custom innovation often comes with unknowns—such as exactly how a solution will work, how fast it can operate, and what it will cost. That’s where a Proof of Concept (PoC) comes in.

With a PoC, we conduct research and testing to validate that your solution is feasible. To support this R&D phase, we ask for a one-time payment, which covers the resources needed to prove it can be done and to establish a more accurate cost estimate. If you choose to move forward with the full project, that payment is applied toward the final cost.
